BUVAD Teams up with ECO-TECH

Indeed the coming of John to BUVAD was a turning point and a great land mark in the history of philanthropy at BUVAD and in Uganda as this block though a toilet, is a success story with environmental conservation and sanitation, considering how it helps to eradicate waste plastic bottles that suffocate the soil to reduce soil fertility from the environment, especially that of the Ugandan Agro-based economy, has stronger walls than those of the mud brick house hence an immediate substitute to mud bricks, making bottle bricks doesn't require cutting down trees to burn them like it is with mud bricks hence will reduce on the rate of tree cutting in the area, however on an amazing note this kind of construction is the first of the kind in Uganda and in Africa.

The beauty and strangeness of this toilet project has turned it into a tourist attraction and has hit the news headlines of TV stations, Radios and Newspapers creating a wider impact of the BUVAD programs.

Through this approach BUVAD hopes to help the rest of Ugandans to eliminate this environmental hazard of plastic bottles by furthering this technology through training workshops and projects implementation that we hope to conduct with consultation of ECO-TECH Environmental solutions company.

We are planning to conduct another training workshop in July 2010 about constructing a water tank using waste plastic bottles.
