Primary Health Care Programme
Through BUVAD’s commitment to health care, community members have been sensitized on basic health maintenance skills and BUVAD is continuing this ongoing programme.
The community understands the value of training and discusses the need for furthering understanding of primary health care, water and sanitation, HIV/AIDS prevention and care, nutrition and First Aid skills.
Chief among concerns in the community regarding health care is access, most members of the community that were surveyed reported traveling 7km or more to the local hospital.
BUVAD is currently in the process of creating a partnership with the Kayunga District Hospital and intends to help them remedy one of their biggest problems, no water supply.
In the future, BUVAD intends to set up a first aid centre within each of the villages where members can access basic health care in case of minor illnesses.
The PHC Programme has one of the leading needs for volunteer run workshops. Volunteers with knowledge and skills in any of the above mentioned subjects are most welcome to come and set up workshops. This is a good opportunity for both short and long-term volunteers. Please see our volunteer page for more details.
